Markets in Fuengirola all year round
Of the many charms of the city, you have surely heard about the beaches of Fuengirola or someone has told you an anecdote about the beach clubs of Fuengirola, today we come to talk about the markets of Fuengirola.
The town has numerous markets and first we will analyze those that take place every week. These are three; two traditional markets and another for the sale of second-hand items known as the “Flea Market.”
Tuesday Market
The market that takes place on Tuesdays is one of the largest in all of Andalusia, with over 480 stalls.
It is set up weekly without fail, unless it coincides with a major event, fair, or festival, such as the Fuengirola Fair, known as the Rosario Festivities from October 6th to 12th, the International Fair of Peoples, or the Carmen Festivities in mid-July.
The reason for its cancellation is that all these events are held in the location of this market, the fantastic fairground of Fuengirola.
There, from 9 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, you can stroll among a wide variety of offers in textiles, all kinds of clothing you can imagine including footwear, fresh fruits and vegetables, dried fruits, flowers, or handicrafts.
Saturday Market or The Flea Market
The Fuengirola Second-Hand Market takes place at the Fairground and follows the same schedule pattern as the Tuesday market; from 9 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon.
Although the number of stalls is lower, about 300, its offer is wide, and you can find everything from crafts and antiques to costume jewelry and decorative items, as well as sports equipment and small appliances.
A diverse offer that will surely catch your attention and help you take home a different souvenir from your getaway to Fuengirola.
Sunday Market
We change location and go to Calle Méndez Núñez, known to all as the market located between the Mosque and Doña Sofía Park. The schedule is the same as in the previous two markets, from 9 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon, and it has a total of 132 very well-organized stalls.
Although it has numerous stalls selling fruits, vegetables, nuts, candies, and sweets, the highlight of this market is the sale of textiles and footwear. Precisely, this is why locals know it as the Brands Market.
The best thing about this market is not only its offers, but its location as well. It’s just a few seconds’ walk from the promenade and a stone’s throw from some of the best restaurants in Fuengirola, whether you prefer to try some fish at its beach bars or go on a tapas route through Fuengirola.
Markets in Fuengirola throughout the year
Unlike the markets we have just seen, Fuengirola offers other events depending on the time of year and remains committed to expanding its offerings due to the great reception from everyone.
Medieval Market
A market that has evolved to become part of the life of the people of Fuengirola. So much so that its annual market has become a yearly celebration.
Its origins in the Sohail Castle of Fuengirola with several stalls of crafts and leather have nothing to do with what is organized today by the Fuengirola City Council in the streets of the city center; workshops, exhibitions, activities, and a true medieval market with more than 30 stalls.
Every year it seems to surpass itself with more involvement from everyone, better stalls, and unbeatable organization. It usually takes place at the end of December, so that the youngest members of the family can come by and enjoy all the activities planned for them. From morning until the fireworks, who would want to miss it?
Christmas Market
From late November to mid-December, Christmas will be whiter and more special than ever at the Fuengirola Christmas market. The Plaza de la Constitución hosts this market, which has become a tradition and a reference in the center of the Costa del Sol.
17 wooden cabins, decorated according to the great Christmas atmosphere that is experienced in the center of the Fuengirola town, offer decoration, food, accessories, gifts, artisan products, and Christmas food.
