Malaga fair

The city’s summer festivities have their origin in the commemoration of the incorporation of Malaga to the Crown of Castile by the Catholic Monarchs, who entered the city on August 19, 1487. In 1491, coinciding with the liturgical celebrations of the Cathedral Chapter, the Municipal Chapter established the beginning of the popular festivities. It is when the year 1887 arrives when, in the commemoration of the IV Centenary of the entry of the Catholic Monarchs into Malaga, they resurface in all their splendour. The August Fair of Malaga has come to our days as the Great Summer Festival, with an open, cosmopolitan and international sense, which reflects the character of the capital of the first tourist area of Europe: the city of Malaga as the nerve centre of the Costa del Sol and its metropolitan area.

Get to know its most important events, such as the opening of the fair, which is accompanied by a fireworks display; the Pilgrimage where riders, carriages and Malaga people accompany the standard-bearer of the fair to the Sanctuary of La Victoria; the Fair of the Centre, where you can taste wines and tapas accompanied by music in the historic streets of Malaga; the Royal Fair, where casetas, live performances and fair attractions are held in an area prepared for the enjoyment of visitors.

Welcome to the Malaga Fair!
