Montejaque is a village in the province of Malaga and is in the range of the Serrania de Ronda, between the Sierra de Grazalema and the valley of the river Guadiaro. Surrounded by green olive groves and a mountain landscape, their altitude and form, we will note here: El Penon de Mures with 865 m - 899 m to El Cerro Tavizna - El Hacho with 1,065 m and the tip of the Ventana to 1298 m. The entire local area is in the nature park of Sierra de Grazalema. This large reserve is rich in flora and fauna, and is located in the northwestern province of Cádiz, bordering to the province of Málaga.
Montejaque is typical andalusian village. Walking through its streets and squares is a highlight, the visitor feels the lifestyle enclosed in its walls. Jumping on the train of progress, like most of the lovely villages do, you still fel its roots and history; Its old Arabian name was “Monte Xaquez”, which means lost mountain. In this times, of Arabic dominion, existed an Alcazaba (fortress) which offered a magnificant view, fresh and clean, of a big part of the Serranía. Today there is only the place, where the Finca de El Castillo existed.
