Comares is situated 685 m over sea level and full of canyons, old farm-houses and cottages, all built around the moun¬tain. The centrum of the village is situated on a hillside on top of the mountain. From Comares you find a dominant panoramic view over the grounds and hills of Axarquía which reach to the sea. That’s why this area is also called “Balcón de la Axarquía” – balcony of Axarquía.
¡Comares, essentially, was already there…..!
When the Arabian invaded the peninsula, the village of Comares already existed, corresponding to investigations of José Hermoso Ruiz. The city was founded hundrets of years before, by the greek. Later, when the moros took the occupation of it, the Catholic Kings conquested it around 1487 and gave it a title. The Phoenician arrived at the coast of Málage in the 7th century.
