Casares is situated in the southwest extreme of the province of Málaga, in the district known as the west Costa del Sol.
It extends over the last hills of the south Serranía de Ronda and it is the east border of the area of Gibraltar.
Casares is a typical example of a white andalusian village (pueb¬lo), with small streets, declined and interlaced and nested houses. Place of birth of Blas Infante, who is the father of the fatherland Andalusia.

Casares

Over the entire history of Casares, there are important and glorious events, especially the character of its own currency in the Roman period. Another improtant event was the visit of Julius Cesar in Spain, when he was roman monarch 61 BC.The preserved remains of the fortifi¬cations, as well as various excavations in the ground, gave no information about previous settlements in this area, before the Middle Ages. The walled area has the shape of an irregular polygon with different accesses, which are adapted to the topographical conditions.

The wall follows to the flank of the hill, especially in the south, west and north, called "la Plana".
