Antequera is a spanish villagge in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of munidad autónoma de Andalusia. Situated in the north of the province, it is the centre of the district the same name.
Antequera takes first place in the countryside of the province and has the largest surface. Its geographical location is a logistical joint connecton for the Andalusian region. Ante¬quera today, is the ad¬minis¬trative center for trade, service and equipment. A visit in Antequera reveals remains from the Bronze Age, such as dolmens (grave chambers) de Menga, Viera and El Romeral, or the remains of Roman, Visigoths and Muslims, as well as the finest examples of Renaissance and of the Andalusian Baroque.
Since the Stone Age, various primitive ethnic groups moved through the area and left their signs on the colonization of the Spanish peninsula. Remains from the Bronze Age and the prehistory, such as dolmens (tombs) de Menga, Viera and El Romeral dated from 2500-2000 BC.
The settlement by the Iberians, Phoenicians and tart is attested, although there are no specific findings about it. The graves at Cerro León, however, are witnesses of the time of the Carthaginians, as we know. There was the scene of a major battle with the Roman legions.
