Alozaina is a municipality in the province of Malaga and is situated in the foothills of the Sierra de las Nieves. The area extends from the Sierra Prieta in the north to the Rio Grande Valley in the south. In the area of the Sierra Prieta is also "La Ventanilla" (the window), a region that leads to the forest of the Cuesta de Pino Alto. A visit is a treat and the view through the "open window" into the Guadalhorce valley, is a glory. Finds of hunting tools found in the cave of Algarrobo prove of human settlements already in the Paleolithic.
The origins of the present city date back to the modern age, with the rule of the Muslim culture. A still visible monument is the fortress that was once part of the heyday of the castle and which was named with an Arabic name Alhosaina "(small Castillo). The place became great importance by the volume of trade which took place at that time.
Thereby Alozaina was the most populous city in the neighborhood. The city could not inhabit so many citizens, forcing many remain outside the Roman walls. When the people realized that the neighboring village of Alora was besieged by the Christian troops, they surrendered in 1484 without any resistance.
